"20 Days in Mariupol," a documentary film by the Associated Press (AP), has been nominated for an Academy Award. This documentary shares the journey of AP news journalists trapped in the besieged city of Mariupol in 2022. As the only international journalism team on the ground, they survived intensely challenging conditions in order to document the defining moments in history – previewed in the video below.
The documentary, which was shot on Sony, not only provides a visual account of civilians caught in the middle of the siege, but it also provides a look at what it is like for journalists who are reporting in conflict zones and the importance of their work around the world. We applaud their bravery, and the bravery of all photo and video journalists' who are using powerful imagery to inform society on the most important stories of our time.
