Sony cameras and lenses received multiple wins at the 2021 TIPA Awards which honor the best imaging gear on the market. The Sony Alpha 7S III, Sony Alpha 1, Sony FE 50 F1.2 G Master, Sony ZV-1, and the Sony Xperia 1 III all took home best-class in their respective categories. 

With the crown for Best Full Frame Professional Camera the judges said this about the Alpha 1: “The Alpha 1 offers new dimensions of imaging performance and efficient workflow, giving new creative freedom to professional photographers in the ranges of sport, wedding, portrait, wildlife and more.” TIPA also called out the Alpha 1’s versatility and “blazing fast reading speed” of up to 30 fps blackout free-continuous shooting. The Sony Alpha 7s III won Best Photo/Video Camera - Expert Category with TIPA saying “Paired with the new 12.1 MP back-illuminated full-frame Exmor RTM CMOS image sensor and the powerful BIONZ XR processor, it delivers the best 4K imagery.” For more about the Sony Alpha 7S III click HERE.

The award for Best Prime Standard Lens went to the Sony FE 50mm f/1.2 G Master lens, being especially praised for “11-blade aperture for stunning bokeh for portraiture and nature photography” and “light-gathering ability is coupled with an advanced optical design that delivers a high degree of sharpness and clarity”. The Sony ZV-1 reigned supreme for the vlogging community by capturing the prize for Best Vlogger Camera. TIPA highlighted not just one specific reason for the ZV-1’s dominance but the  “numerous features and effects that are purpose-built for content creators.” A few of those “purpose-built” features specifically highlighted were “Directional 3-capsule Mic ensuring that front-facing sound gets priority” and “image stabilization for smooth footage when the vlogger is moving through a scene.” For more about the Sony ZV-1 click HERE.

Finally, Sony put it’s industry-leading digital imaging tech into a mobile phone to take home the Best Photo Smartphone award. TIPA noted that “Xperia 1 III utilises expertise of engineers from Sony’s Alpha cameras.” That expertise translated to features like “four focal lengths, including the world’s first Variable telephoto lens paired with a Dual PD sensor” and “Fast focus [that] is enhanced by AI for Real Time Tracking and allows for 20fps bursts with 60fps continuous AF/AE calculation.” TIPA also noted that another signature touch - “Each lens features ZEISS optics calibrated specifically for Xperia 1 III.” For more about the Sony Xperia 1 III click HERE.
